Unable to establish a VPN connection

If you are experiencing issues connecting on any of your devices, here are a few general tips if you cannot connect with the BulletVPN application.

1- Check internet connection

To check if your internet connection is working, close the BulletVPN app, and try visiting certain websites such as https:/www.google.com. If you’re unable to reach the internet while the application is closed, please verify your network settings to ensure your network is well connected. You can also test the internet connectivity on other devices while connected to the same network.

2- Update the app to the latest version

We regularly release new versions that include bug fixes. You can download the latest version of the BulletVPN app on supported devices:

3- Try a different protocol

In some cases, a certain VPN protocol might be blocked on your network either by your ISP or router. Also, there may exist an issue with a specific VPN protocol on certain servers. You can try changing the VPN protocol that you are using to connect within the app settings tab.

We usually recommend OpenVPN as it offers the most secure connection option without sacrificing performance and speed.

We advise switching between the VPN protocols but in the below order:

  • OpenVPN UDP
  • OpenVPN TCP
  • IKEV2
  • L2TP/IPsec

4- Try a different server location

Choose different VPN server location from the list of locations.

5- Check antivirus and firewall software on relevant platforms

A firewall, antivirus, or antispyware program may block your VPN connection. To test this, deactivate these programs and see if BulletVPN can be connected. If you can connect to BulletVPN, please try allowing BulletVPN in your software firewall, or adjust the security level from High to Medium/Low.

The last resort is to deactivate the Anitivurs/Firewall on your device, then reinstall BulletVPN.

6- Contact support

It is always better to contact BulletVPN support. We do have different viable suggestions for such issues and can debug the issue using different approaches.
